  • Food Town at the corner of Huffmeister and Cypress North Houston. Wow—today, the Holy Spirit was showing off! To have Him reveal Himself so clearly, so precisely, is humbling and mind-blowing. What ministry has God revealed to you as your calling? Mine is not to find and save the lost. It’s not song and praise—I couldn’t carry a note if I tried. I believe my ministry is to strengthen fellow Christians—to help fortify their faith in the God of possibilities. One of the leaders I pray with every morning is Ron Mulkey. He’s not only a leader on the Men’s Prayer Line Ministry but also serves at The Church Without Walls under Pastor Ralph West. He’s a key figure in our Men’s Fellowship Breakfast every Saturday morning, and beyond that, he has been there for my family during some of our toughest times, helping us recover after both the Houston Tax Day Flood and Hurricane Harvey, when our home took in 12 inches of water, leaving us trapped upstairs for three days. Today, as I walked through Food Town for the second time, searching for the person God wanted me to bless, I first noticed a young woman in the vegetable aisle. I thought, If I don’t find a family, I’ll circle back to her. Then, I saw a mother and teenage daughter near the meat aisle. I asked which church they attended, and the mother replied, “Oh, we don’t go to church.” I smiled and gently encouraged her to find a good church home, but she didn’t seem interested. When I started this, I asked the Holy Spirit how I would know who to bless. His answer was simple: “I will send you a sign.” And the sign? The question: “What church do you go to?” For those who don’t attend, I might just seem like some random ole crazy man handing out $200—a lucky day for them. But for believers, my next two questions— “Do you believe in God?” and “Do you believe in the Holy Spirit?”—would hold a deeper meaning. They would recognize what it truly means to listen when the Holy Spirit speaks. With my search complete, I returned to the vegetable aisle, but the young woman was gone. As I turned the corner, I saw her finishing her transaction at the register and heading out of the store. I caught up with her and asked my big question. Her response? “Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.” I smiled. I know that church—under Pastor Dr. Marcus D. Crosby. She answered my next two questions about God and the Holy Spirit with confidence. That was my confirmation. I introduced myself and asked her name. She smiled and said, “Roxanne Mulkey.” I paused. “Do you know Ron Mulkey?” Her eyes lit up. “Yes, that’s my brother.” Look at God. To think—I had walked through that store twice, searching. And all along, God had ordered my steps to lead me to Ron’s sister. I pulled out my phone, dialed Ron, and told him who I was standing next to. Before time existed, God saw this moment—He had already aligned our footsteps for this exact encounter. WOW!!

  1. Dr. Crawford,
Your steps are ordered by the Lord. Continue to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit so you may bless who God intends when He intends. My sister called me afterward. She was excited about the RAC and elated to know that we are friends.

    Be Blessed,

    RM
